The New Wall

The blue skies
And green leaves
Are so ordinary
When juxtaposed
Against a wall
Freshly whitewashed

Every passing gaze
Upon it rests admiringly
And the wall stands still
Like a proud man
Whilst the tree shakes
For attention

There is a wall on one side
And soon there will be
Three more
Enclosing the eye
In the cosy comforts
Of it's well-lit interiors

Then a window
Would be an innovation
When the whole mind
Could be free
For how else
Can a roof be without walls?

I need to say about a few things:

1. Marvelous verse. I'm just too astonished. I felt a different level of satisfaction reading it. If I hadn't read you earlier I would have said, "Have you written this?"
And I'm glad I won't say it now.
I feel indeed lucky to have read this.

2. The backdrop is amazing. Ethereal.

3. Nice dp. Ahan! :)

And yes, forgot to mention, candid about me.

This made me smile. :)

Had to read the poem a couple of times - still not sure how to interpret the last stanza...

Beautiful verse.

@ Miss Kido: :) :) :)

@ Anubhav: nope. you are making a mistake if you are expecting a deep philosophy or message :P treat it like an amateurish experiment.

and i m curious to hear your interpretation.

You've offered me food for thought. Still thinking about the above lines.

An unique poem I must say !

--Intriguing lines Abhishek. I wonder what made you ask that question. :-)

@ Himanshu: hmm.. sparked by a few things I have been thinking about recently - like increasing detachment from nature, involvement with man-made boundaries and tendency to justify the change.
